On our final stop on our tour of the networks’ fall schedules: Sunday nights. Sunday nights this fall won’t look all that different from Sunday nights last fall, honestly. NBC will have football; CBS will have a series of grownup dramas; Fox will continue with their animation block into which they will try to sneak in a live action comedy; and ABC will continue to have no idea what they are doing, and pair a serious drama with a bunch of silly game shows.
Speaking of, Ten Days in the Valley, ABC’s new drama that will certainly wilt away on Sunday nights, doesn’t look half-bad. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t look great, but it has a strong cast and I like a decent mystery drama. But ABC keeps trying to make this Sunday time slot happen for these serious mystery dramas — think Secrets and Lies and American Crime — and they never work. They need to just surrender all of Sunday to fluff reality programming and celebrity game shows and be done with it.
Over on Fox, we have Ghosted, a paranormal comedy starring Craig Robinson and Adam Scott and I love both of them so I have high expectations that will surely be dashed.
Finally, Wisdom of the Crowd. As I’ve said before, this trailer FREAKS ME OUT. It’s as though the creators of this show took all the wrong lessons from Black Mirror: Technology is our savior! Mob justice is true justice! Privacy doesn’t exist and that will keep us safer! NO. WRONG. BAD.
The schedule below is subject to change; new series are highlighted in pink. And below that are the trailers for the three series I mentioned above.
