It’s crunch time. The Upfronts begin next week, and we’ll finally know which shows are officially renewed or cancelled by the end of the week, next week at the latest. Here are our friend Cancel Bear’s final predictions:
- ABC: Once Upon a Time is probably coming back; Dr. Ken, not so much.
- CBS: 2 Broke Girls is likely to return, and Elementary‘s chances are looking better, but The Great Indoors is probably a goner.
- The CW: iZombie is pretty certain to return (see below in Renewals)
- Fox: Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Last Man on Earth are pretty safe; Making History, not so much.
- NBC: Timeless might just squeak by (although with the renewal of Taken, it might be harder).
Meanwhile, if you want to see my personal guesses as to which series are in danger, check out the gallery in this post (although note that this gallery doesn’t include Sleepy Hollow’s cancellation. I’ve updated it — just waiting for Chron.com to update their site. I’ll switch out the link once the new post is up.)
Renewals
- Taken has been renewed for a second season on NBC — but with a new showrunner.
- Rob Thomas is confident that iZombie will be renewed, so confident, in fact, that he moved a major reveal that was supposed to be in the season finale to the season four premiere.
Cancellations
- Fox killed two of their Friday night shows, Rosewood and Sleepy Hollow.
In Other TV News
Abby Lee Miller is going to prison.

Some American Idol news: auditions are apparently going to be held at Disney World, which is some clever synergy on the part of Disney ABC, and reportedly Kelly Clarkson might be a judge. And why it didn’t return to Fox? Because the Idol producers are still pissed about being cancelled.
The Grammys are returning to New York City and will be held in Madison Square Garden.
This is how a South Korean network announced covered their election results and it is amazzzzzzzzzing. AMAZING:
Daniel Newman is an actor on The Walking Dead who, for reasons that are unclear, follows me on Twitter. Anyway, this goofball posted a picture of himself on set that might have constituted something of a spoiler.

In Development
- The Gifted, the Marvel drama from Bryan Singer, has been ordered to series by Fox to no one’s surprise.
- In other pilot news, NBC has passed on dramas Redliners and Shelter and comedies Spaced Out, What About Barb? and Relatively Happy. And at ABC, Jalen vs. Everybody is not moving forward.
- Hulu has ordered a pilot based on the Michael Hassan novel, Crash & Burn, and series Cardinal and Gap Year.
- The Strain returns for its final season on July 16 on FX.
Casting News
- Peter Dinklage and Jamie Dornan are going to star in My Dinner with Hervé, an HBO movie about Hervé Villechaize.
- Joe Dempsie, Gendry on Game of Thrones, has joined the cast of Fox’s drama Deep State. (Does this mean he doesn’t survive season 7? HMMMM.)
- Alana Bolden (Ride) Skeet Ulrich (Riverdale, Jericho) and Deirdre Lovejoy (The Blacklist, The Wire) will star in Lifetime’s I Am Elizabeth Smart.
