You have to be clear with the rules.

Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
The BAFTAs were yesterday, but the winners were overshadowed by an unfortunate event in which one of the attendees, Tourette’s syndrome advocate John Davidson, created a series of disruptions by yelling out profanities, including the N-word, when Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were presenting. He also yelled, “Shut the f*** up” during BAFTA chair Sara Putt’s speech, and “f*** you” during the Best Children’s and Family Film winners’ acceptance speech.
The audience had been warned ahead of time by a show producer: “I’d like to welcome John Davidson MBE from one of our nominated films, I Swear. John has Tourette’s syndrome, so please be aware you might hear some involuntary noises or movements during the ceremony.” Later in the broadcast, host Alan Cuming offered an apology: “Tourette’s syndrome is a disability and the tics you’ve heard tonight are involuntary, which means the person who has Tourette’s syndrome has no control over their language. We apologize if you are offended tonight.”
However, these explanations and apologies were understandably not enough for some:
Asking for more grace for the person who shouted a racist slur instead of for Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo, who had to push through being embarrassed in front of their peers.
But that’s often the expectation — that Black people are just supposed to be ok with being… https://t.co/MqHbC8XwsA

“Sinners” production designer Hannah Beachler said that Alan Cumming’s “throw away apology” over the N-word being shouted during the BAFTA Film Awards made the situation “worse.”
“I understand and deeply know why this is an impossible situation. I know we must handle this with…

Here are all the BAFTA winners, if you’re curious. Marty Supreme made history by being nominated for 11 awards and taking home exactly none.
President Anti-Business is screaming at Netflix that they must fire one of their board members or “pay the consequences.” Very free-market capitalist of him!
Ted Sarandos is taking this new threat in stride, insisting that this is just how that asshole behaves on social media. “This is a business deal. It’s not a political deal. This deal is run by the Department of Justice in the U.S. and regulators throughout Europe and around the world.”
C-SPAN says it was NOT President John Barron who called in to bitch about the Supreme Court’s ruling on tariffs, despite his long history of using the name “John Barron” to call the press and leave tips/gossip/complain.
Because so many of you are talking about Friday’s C-SPAN caller who identified himself as “John Barron,” we want to put this to rest: it was not the president. The call came from a central Virginia phone number and came while the president was in a widely covered, in-person…

The Breaking Bad and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms fandoms are fighting. (And the Six Feet Under fans are reaping the benefits.)
The creator of Andor wants to make it as clear as he possibly can that yes, the show is about fascism, and yes, it applies to THIS administration. In other breaking news, Homelander is still the bad guy on The Boys.
And I’m almost grateful The Sopranos isn’t being made today, because Michael Imperioli is 100% correct, the characters would DEFINITELY be MAGA, and dummies would still never fully understand that those same characters are terrible people. The worst.
Conan O’Brien has opened up about Rob Reiner and Michelle Singer Reiner’s horrible deaths following his Christmas party, saying he was “shocked for quite a while afterwards.”
I finally got around to watching Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model on Netflix, and let me be the last person to tell you that if you were a fan of ANTM, you NEED to watch this documentary. But even if you didn’t watch ANTM, if you are a fan of reality TV or even just think about TV in broader sociological or cultural ways, it’s worth your time.
A reminder that late-night returns tonight, and Saturday Night Live will be back this weekend.
I admit it: General Hospital‘s tribute to Luke/Anthony Geary last Friday got me all verklempt.
Yeah, so about where I’m writing this from …
Get well soon, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi! And for the rest of you, get your regular pap smears, get your HPV vaccine, and make sure your children — girls AND boys — get theirs, too.
Get well soon, Brandon Frankel.
Eric Dane’s friends have launched a GoFundMe to support his daughters in the wake of his death. Oh, and a reminder: this administration has cut off funding to important ALS research for no good God damned reason.
