UPDATED WITH PREMIERE DATES: What you’ll be watching on Fox this fall

It’s early May, which means one thing: it’s time to start thinking about what we’ll be watching in the fall. Below is a preview of Fox’s new fall and midseason series, a look at Fox’s 2025-2026 schedule, a list of the shows that have been renewed for at least another year, the unlucky few that have been canceled, and a handful of shows that are still awaiting their fates.

Like everyone else, Fox is playing it safe this fall. But the way they are playing it safe is very interesting: everything “new” they are offering is an adaptation. In the fall, they are adding two series, both of which are game shows; one an adaptation of a Belgian game show, the other an adaptation of a British game show that has already enjoyed a long life on a different network.

And in midseason, they are re-introducing another now-classic game show from another network; a series adaptation of a Belgian film (what’s up with Fox and Belgium?), an adaptation of a beloved British series, and an adaptation of a classic: the Old Testament. Fox: What’s old is new again.

New Fall Shows

Weakest Link (NBC)
Celebrity Weakest Link

Video to Come

Official synopsis:

Fox did not release an official synopsis for Celebrity Weakest Link, because I guess they assume you know what it will be? “Rapid-fire quiz show”? Jane Lynch? + Celebrities? “The Fox version will be a celebrity edition with eight celebrities competing to win up to $1M for charity by answering questions and trying not to become the weakest link.”

T’s Take: Fox looked at ABC’s Celebrity Family Feud, Celebrity Jeopardy!, and Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and decided they wanted one for themselves.

99 to Beat (Fox)
99 to Beat

Video to Come

Official synopsis:

100 contestants go head-to-head in a range of visually distinctive and hilarious games in an arced competition game show like we’ve never seen before. 99 to Beat is the game show that anyone can win, and there’s only one thing players must do for a chance of walking away with the cash prize – Don’t. Come. In. Last. As contestants battle it out against each other, each round will see the number of players whittled down until one person is left standing and they take home the top prize of $100,000.

T’s Take: Squid Game without all the murder.

Midseason

Memory of a Killer

Video to Come

Official synopsis:

Inspired by the 2003 award-winning Belgian film De Zaak Alzheimer (La Memoire Du Tueur), Memory of a Killer is a dramatic thriller about a hitman who develops early onset Alzheimer’s. Losing your memory is a devastating hammer blow for anyone, but for Angelo Ledda, the stakes couldn’t be higher. His hit man job would be perilous enough, but there’s an added pressure. Angelo lives two totally separate lives — fearsome NYC hitman and sleepy upstate Cooperstown photocopier salesman and father. Having built and maintained a brick wall between his two worlds, Angelo has seamlessly juggled and compartmentalized for years. But now that’s all about to change. Because Alzheimer’s is a foe he can’t outrun, and he knows too well how this ends, as his older brother is already lost to the condition. Angelo is exceptionally resourceful and talented, the best of the best. But he’s about to be tested like never before — and now every minute counts. This is only made more difficult when he discovers that his wife’s recent death may not have been an accident. So, when someone comes after his daughter — who is pregnant — it’s clear the wall between his lives has been breached. Angelo must stop whoever’s coming for his family by searching his past hits for clues, and the list is very long. Now Angelo must hunt down his mortal enemy while continuing to carry out hits without giving away his diagnosis and still making it home in time to cook dinner for his daughter. Memory of a Killer is a redemptive story about a man who is losing his memory but gaining a conscience. Because Angelo knows he must stop history from repeating itself and save his family — before he forgets the past.

T’s Take: Since Fox unveiled they were turning this 2003 Belgian movie into a TV series, they have announced that the star of the series will be McDreamy himself, Patrick Dempsey. And I have to admit, there’s a part of me that is kind of dying inside that Dempsey is old enough to play a man not just with Alzheimer’s, but a man with a grandbaby on the way. I am so old.

As for the plot itself, it’s certainly high concept. God knows there have been plenty of procedural dramas on network television, but as far as I can tell, none of the heroes have also had Alzheimer’s. Points for originality and potential for both wacky mix-ups and sentimentality.

Best Medicine

Video to Come

Official synopsis:

Best Medicine centers on Martin Best, a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his illustrious career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child. Unfortunately, Martin’s blunt and borderline rude bedside manner rubs the quirky, needy locals the wrong way, and he quickly alienates the town, even though he’s all they’ve got. Although Martin can expertly address any medical ailment or mystery in this idiosyncratic town, he’s really just desperate to be left the hell alone. Instead, he keeps getting dragged right smack into the middle of their personal chaos, feuds and fantasies. What the locals don’t know is that Martin’s terse demeanor masks a debilitating new phobia and deep-seated psychological issues that prevent him from experiencing true intimacy with anyone. But tenacity is the creed of everyone in their small village, and the people who live there may be exactly what the doctor ordered.

T’s Take: 1. This will star Josh Charles even though this CLEARLY should star Hugh Laurie, and 2. It’s a remake of the long-running British dramedy, Doc Martin. And if you go to the Doc Martin Wikipedia page, you’ll learn what Martin’s phobia is. Hint: It’s not a great phobia to have as a doctor! Hey, do you think it’ll play a role in at least one episode per season?

I tease, but the long and short of it is this has potential. Josh Charles is appealing and, despite not being Hugh Laurie, is well cast as a curmudgeon. And there has to be a reason there have been 10 seasons of the original over in the U.K., right?

The Faithful (Fox)
The Faithful

Video to Come

Official synopsis:

The six-episode event series is based on The Old Testament’s Book of Genesis and told through the eyes of the courageous and passionate, yet flawed women whose descendants would shape three of the world’s great faiths: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The Faithful is about discovering and losing love, the challenges of marriage, the joys and heartbreak of children, confronting temptation and finding faith. The episodes will be told through the lens of five of The Bible’s most iconic women: Sarah and her former slave Hagar; Sarah’s great-niece Rebekah; and Rebekah’s nieces, sisters Leah and Rachel.

T’s Take: Fox looked at The CW’s The Chosen and decided they wanted one for themselves.

Fear Factor (NBC)
Fear Factor: The Next Chapter

Video to Come

Official Deadline’s synopsis:

“The show that made Joe Rogan famous previously ran for six seasons on NBC, which brought it back briefly in 2011 before MTV had a crack at it with Ludacris as host. Dropped into a remote location, a group of strangers will live together under one roof, and face stunts, challenges and a game of social strategy.”

T’s Take: Fox looked at NBC’s Deal or No Deal Island and decided they wanted one for themselves.
