Last night was the big finale of the Democratic National Convention, and after three solid days of excitement, joy, and Lil Jon, it went out with a spectacular speech from Vice President Kamala Harris.
But first! The Chicks!
By the way, if you can sit through another version of the National Anthem, you should do yourself the favor of watching this performance that opened the Convention. It starts off beautifully — but traditionally — and crescendos into something … transcendent.
Transcendent.

UFC fighter Ronda Rousey has apologized 11 years later for posting a Sandy Hook truther video, and she said something very interesting in her apology that those of us struggling to understand conspiracy theorists should hear: “I didn’t even believe it, but was so horrified at the truth that I was grasping for an alternative fiction to cling to instead.” The people who gravitate towards conspiracy theories, especially false flag conspiracies that pop up after every single mass shooting, are not bad people (for the most part) but so incapable of wrapping their heads around the horror of it all that they create these stories to protect themselves from the awful truth. And the only people that sort of self-protecting thinking benefits are the gun manufacturers and the NRA. We have to wake up.
