OK, this is either really a funny bit of self-reflection … OR FORESHADOWING:

Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
Before we get started, I keep forgetting to remind you to give me TV show suggestions for the TV Foolishness Tournament in the comments. I’ll be closing the suggestion box at the end of next week, and voting will begin in September. So let me know now — what do you want me to recap, either as a hate blog or as a deep dive?
Chick-fil-A is starting a streaming service and YOU KNOW WHAT? Makes sense. Look, I know this news is producing a lot of incredulous or humorous headlines; because what the hell is a fried chicken place doing making TV? But those of us who live in the South and who have grown up on Chick-fil-A’s delicious but deeply homophobic chicken know that the company has a deeply loyal fanbase that sees the brand as an extension of their own values (which is a large part why I boycott it, despite missing it terribly). It actually makes sense that they could enter the “family-friendly” programming business — it’s just an offshoot of their already well-known and well-loved brand.
Punkie Johnson says she left Saturday Night Live because she didn’t feel like she “fit” in the show. She also says that opportunities have come flooding in, so don’t worry about Punkie! She’s going to be OK.
They’re starting to talk about The Crown spinoffs.
OK, Kim Cattrall’s Samantha is done with Sex and the City, but how about Emily in Paris?
Excuse me, Dance Moms: A New Era featured a performance based ON WHAT?
Bob Iger tells Kelly Ripa he’s sorry he said that TV wasn’t important to the core of Disney’s business — more specifically, he’s sorry he said that TV wasn’t important to the core of Disney’s business on camera for all the world to see and hear.
Greg Berlanti will be honored by the Television Academy for single-handedly keeping The CW alive for years.
Alexander Payne wants his sequel to Election to be released in theaters, and that’s very sweet of him but it’s never going to happen. Will Deadpool be in his sequel? No? Then yeah, he can just let that little pipedream go and settle in and get comfortable over on Paramount+.
I’m going to keep the coverage of last night’s DNC brief, but wanted to point out a couple of important moments:
President Clinton’s claim that since the Cold War ended, of the 51 million jobs that have been created, 50 million were under Democratic presidents, with only 1 million under Republican:
@meidastouch Clinton: Since the end of the cold war in 1989, America has created about 51 million new jobs. I swear, I checked this three times. Even I cannot believe it. What’s the score? Democrats 50, Republicans 1.
Post by @hillaryclintonView on Threads
The Washington Post fact-checked it and noted out that even if you extend the timeline even longer, to the end of World War II, the numbers still check out: “88 million jobs added under Democrats and 32 million under Republicans.” (And then Ronald Reagan happened, but that’s a whole other post.) The point is, Americans for some reason have calcified this idea that Republicans are better, more responsible with the economy than Democrats, when the evidence DOES NOT EXIST. All they do is lower taxes for the wealthy, shut down social programs that help working-class people, and drag our economy into recessions and depressions that the Democrats have to dig us out of.
@newsnationnow Former President #BillClinton joked about his age during his #DemocraticNationalConvention speech Wednesday, saying he’s still “younger than DonaldTrump.” Later in his speech, he took on a more somber tone, noting that he’s not sure how many more conventions he will be able to attend. #DNC
Former Lieutenant Governor of Georgia — and Republican — Geoff Duncan makes the argument for voting for Vice President Kamala Harris as an act of patriotism against a cultish GOP. It’s worth watching the entire speech:
Hakeem Jeffries says we are never ever ever getting back together:
@msnbc House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries compared Former President Donald Trump to an old boyfriend trying to get back together with their ex, during his speech at the Democratic National Convention. #news #politics #trump #donaldtrump #election #2024 #politics #fyp
Oprah, who describes herself as an independent, showed up to drag JD Vance’s cat lady nonsense:
@msnbc Oprah Winfrey goes after JD Vance’s ‘childless cat ladies’ comment during her DNC speech.
And then there was Coach. Tim Walz was the headliner of the night, and he could not have given a better, more moving, and more impactful speech.
A former student brought out the players of the football team Governor Walz coached to the state championship:
@newsweek TimWalz’s former student brought out the football team he coached on the DNC stage. news newsweek politics election2024
Coach went on to give the country a great locker room talk, touching on gun control, reproductive rights, and our need to fight:

And the world met his children, Hope and Gus. Gus was moved to tears over how proud he was of his dad, and the world fell in love with Gus. WE PROTECT GUS AT ALL COSTS:
@msnbc “You are my entire world and I love you.” Gov. Tim Walz gets personal and emotional about fertility treatments and the love for his his family. His daughter responds with a heart. His son, in tears, responds “That’s my dad!” #dnc #timwalz #kamalaharris #news #politics #ivf #family #fyp #election2024
You know you’ve done well as a parent when your kids are as proud of you as Gus and Hope are of Tim Walz. “That’s my dad.” No three words better describe our next Vice President. pic.twitter.com/zNOyBjo5Fy

LET’S DO IT, TAY-TAY:
If Taylor Swift endorses Kamala – which I think she will – the best way for the campaign to deploy her: have her do one-night-only shows in battleground states targeting 1st time voters, where the price to attend is registering to vote.

As for the rest of you: check your registrations, or go register if you haven’t already (and remember that here in Texas, you can’t register online — it’s a hassle, but it is worth it for your future). I — we all — are putting our trust in you to get this done.
