Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
Netflix had their Q4 call yesterday and broke some big news:
They are doing away with the Basic $11.99 ad-free subscription. The cheapest ad-free subscription will soon be $15.49 per month. You can still get a $6.99 ad-supported plan, but gah. They also say
After taking a hit in subscribers last year, this past quarter saw 13.12 million new subscribers, and they now have 260.28 million subscribers. They attribute the password crackdown to the increase in subscribers.
Netflix’s head of Film, Scott Stuber, is leaving to create his own media company, but Netflix says they are unbothered. ~raise one eyebrow skeptically~
Nic Pizzolatto doesn’t seem to care much for the new season of True Detective and is out there snarking about it. Hey Nic? Maybe if you hadn’t ruined your own series, and then been a dick to everyone, you wouldn’t have lost control over the series. Meanwhile, have a seat, sir, and be quiet.
Brandon and Brenda Walsh reunited and hashed out some things.
There’s a fight over Sonya Eddy’s posthumous Daytime Emmy. The award was accepted by Tyler Ford, her longtime friend and producing partner, but her family believes it should go to them. As a result, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will be retaining the award.
Go get them, Johnny.
Ahh…right…OK. I never in a million years would’ve thought this could come to pass. Consider this shit shut right down right now. https://t.co/M6eYROedOy

Jill and I were saddened to hear of the passing of Charles Osgood, an award-winning journalist whose presence warmed the homes of millions of Americans over his nearly 50-year career.
Our thoughts are with Jean, his wife of 50 years; his five children; and his CBS News family.

"Short words, short sentences, short paragraphs," he said. "There's nothing that can't be improved by making it shorter and better."
–wisdom from the delightful, multi-talented CBS broadcaster Charles Osgood. RIP

There was Charles Osgood. Then there was Charlie at the piano. Warm, witty, paternal. He made all of us who work at @CBSSunday feel like a family. I’m pretty sure he made the audience feel that way, too. A true gentleman. pic.twitter.com/3CDyN2UZH1
