Today we are voting on some acting categories, namely Supporting Actor and Actress in a Comedy Series and a Drama Series. (Limited Series was handed out this weekend to some people’s irritation.)

Page Six is out here reporting that Jimmy Kimmel Live! is going to end after this season, but ABC says the report is “inaccurate” and that any talk about the show’s future at this point is purely speculative. Which isn’t a forceful denial by any measure, and gives them plenty of wiggle room. That said, I don’t see a scenario in which Disney is the one pushing Kimmel out, not in the middle of this political climate and not after that disaster last year. The question is who had the motivation to plant this story and why?

Sooooo … Rudy Giuliani had the audacity to come out publicly and announce that the current mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, should not attend this week’s 9/11 memorial service because of Islamophobia. Mamdani did not respond … in a statement. Instead, a couple of days later, he joined Jon Stewart for a press conference where they released thousands and thousands of documents related to 9/11, addressing air-quality concerns following the attack, documents that showed Giuliani and other officials knew the air was dangerous and hid the information from the public for fear of litigation. Oh. Snap.

Speaking of 9/11, President Lying LiarFace is out here egregiously lying about where he was on that day. Prove you were there, asshole.

Oh great, now the FCC wants to punish broadcasters who release polls that President Tissue Skin doesn’t like. 

Ahead of the season premiere, Trey Parker and Matt Stone have announced that they’ve changed the name of the show from “South Park” to “South America”:

“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of ‘South Park’ to ‘South America. We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.”

After giving the Paramount/Warner Bros. merger a pass without a second look, the Department of Justice is taking a harder look at the Fox/Roku deal. Good, I guess.

A fired 60 Minutes producer has spoken out after months of silence. Guy Campanile, a 34-year veteran and former managing editor, wrote that he and his colleagues were forced out because they “refused to be accomplices in the destruction of the most prestigious news program on American television.”

“We would not compromise our principles or reputations by jamming unverifiable notions or White House talking points into our reporting. We objected when told to conduct interviews arranged by the administration,” he wrote in the post, according to The Guardian and follow-up news reports. “We insisted on asking the most challenging questions to business and political leaders without fear or favor. We did what reporters worth their salt do — questioned authority… including our own bosses. That’s how the best newsrooms work.”

“To be clear — we were told to leave because we insisted on doing our jobs.”
