Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
The Oscar nominations were announced this morning. Here’s where you can watch all 10 of the Best Picture nominees.
Among the surprising snubs: Nicole Kidman, Challengers, Pamela Anderson, Jon M. Chu, and Angelina Jolie. But, interestingly, the Roy brothers are facing off in the Supporting Actor category.
Comcast is launching a news and sports streaming bundle featuring live sports from the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, and NCAA. It also comes with a subscription to Peacock and a hefty monthly fee.
CNN is expected to lay a bunch of people off soon. Not great. They are also rearranging the schedule. As a result, Jim Acosta — who actually has viewers — is threatening to quit. I bet MSNBC has a spot for him somewhere — isn’t Andrea Mitchell retiring soon?
But CNN is building another streaming service three years after killing the one they previously built. Everything is fine.
When Mo returns on Netflix a week from today, it will pick up six months after the events in the season one finale … and end one day before the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks in Israel. Interesting and poignant.
No, Lisa Vanderpump isn’t returning to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, at least according to Andy Cohen, who would know.
But Julia Fox would like to join The Real Housewives of New York, which would be … something.
This Matt James/Rachael Kirkconnell breakup is messy business. And now Jesse Palmer is out here welcoming them both back on the show. NOT NOW, JESSE.
Never mind: Natalie DiDonato, that missing Mob Wives star has been found and is fine.
Get well soon, Colin Egglesfield.
A reminder that the fires are still burning in Los Angeles: S.W.A.T. paused production due to the new Hughes fire. Tyra Banks, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Bozoma Saint John, and Anna Faris all lost homes.
Hey, here’s some more David Lynch stuff:
This is a wonderful oral history of Twin Peaks from the cast, crew, and Mark Frost.
Mikhail Gorbachev tried to use his connections to learn who killed Laura Palmer.
David Lynch was reportedly working on a limited series at Netflix that would have been his final project. I’m sad we won’t ever see it, but it also feels fitting that Twin Peaks: The Return will forever be his final gift.
Kyle MacLachlan wrote a longer piece in The New York Times about David Lynch and how he owes his career to him.

Martin Scorsese reflects on the loss of David Lynch:

I’m still very brokenhearted at his loss. We were lucky to have had David Lynch, indeed.
PolUGHtics
Great. Here comes the attack on the free press and media in general:
President Free Speech wants MSNBC shut down.
The newly installed head of the FCC has revived complaints against ABC, NBC, and CBS for election coverage. These include the complaint about 60 Minutes editing their interview with Kamala Harris; Kamala Harris appearing on Saturday Night Live even though President Whiner received equal time the next day; and alleged bias in ABC hosting a Presidential debate.
Historian of fascism here. It was a Nazi salute and a very belligerent one too.

A bunch of MAGA cultists deny that it was a Nazi salute which is funny, because Nazis are thrilled about Elon throwing a Nazi salute.
Chloe Fineman has no regrets. (Nor should she.)
TCM played a marathon of anti-fascist movies on Tuesday. No reason.
The Washington Post editorial this morning essentially equating Biden's questionable pardons with Trump's outrageous Jan. 6 pardons was unconscionable. The newspaper I've been part of for 48 years has utterly lost its soul.

Fucking Mark Zuckerberg. Not even Jesse Eisenberg will defend you now, Dawg.
