The big news from Friday was the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse for shooting and killing two people, and injuring a third at a protest in Kenosha, WI. All I really have to say about it is that I’m not surprised, but I am saddened by what message this decision sends, and I worry about what others will learn from this.
I knew Rittenhouse would be acquitted but it is gutting to witness the inevitable, to know there will be no consequences for the judge, and to know Rittenhouse and others like him will be more emboldened to be openly white supremacist vigilantes. It's hollowing.

Tamir Rice was 12-years-old when he was killed for holding a toy gun. Kyle Rittenhouse killed 2 people and was found not guilty. A justice system built by white people, to benefit white people, while families who have lost loved ones are given no solace.

In other not at all surprising news, Tucker Carlson was filming the entire trial for a documentary series, and his interview with Rittenhouse will air on his show tonight. Apparently, Rittenhouse “supports BLM” and “peaceful demonstrating.” OK.

In other Fox News news, two longtime conservative contributors, Stephen Hayes and Jonah Goldberg have resigned from the network following the decision to broadcast Tucker Carlson’s repugnant January 6 alternative history series, Patriot Purge on Fox Nation.
“Over the past five years, some of Fox’s top opinion hosts amplified the false claims and bizarre narratives of Donald Trump or offered up their own in his service. In this sense, the release of Patriot Purge wasn’t an isolated incident, it was merely the most egregious example of a longstanding trend. Patriot Purge creates an alternative history of January 6, contradicted not just by common sense, not just by the testimony and on-the-record statements of many participants, but by the reporting of the news division of Fox News itself.”

- Y’ALL, a Blade Runner series is in the works according to Ridley Scott. And we now know the Alien series is going to be 8-10 hours long.
- Fulfilled, a workplace comedy, is in the works at CBS.
- The Line, a drama inspired by a true story, has been picked up at BET+.
- Nikki Glaser has set a comedy special at HBO Max.
- Remember how Bobby Flay and Food Network had parted ways after like 30 years? Yeah, not so much.
