Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
President Tyrant is now saying that he can ban news media outlets for not meeting “minimum requirements of professionalism.” And who determines what that professional standard is? The White House, uh duh. Oh, and they banned Politico today.
And he’s mad about Jessica Tarlov existing, again, lol.
Meanwhile, over at Fox News, their other anchors are calling Sesame Street “political,” I guess because it teaches empathy? Unclear.
The Kennedy Center may be closed because of an 80-year-old toddler’s temper tantrum, but they are still going to hold the Kennedy Center Honors; it will just be held at the Capital One Arena. Because he may shut down the building out of petulance, but he’s not going to give up the power to give his friends shiny prizes.
The head of CNN is sticking around for the meantime.
In the wake of Disney wringing their hands about the economics of late night in the midst of a negotiation with Jimmy Kimmel over renewing his show, LateNighter takes a look at the Jimmy Kimmel Live! numbers, and they are … not as cut and dry as Disney is making them out to be. For instance: while overall viewers at that hour have declined, Kimmel is capturing a much larger number of those who remain. Additionally, the show has been performing at higher levels since last year’s removal incident, and his last two renewals happened when he had a smaller audience. This is a long way to go to say Jimmy Kimmel Live! is coming off a particularly strong year when late-night audiences are declining, but Disney is facing the reality of the trajectory of network television in general. I suspect the two sides will eventually come to an agreement for another year or two with a cheaper production budget, but I guess we’ll see.
Jeremy Strong doesn’t care if you think he’s insufferable on set.
This list of pilot episodes that become better on a rewatch resonates with me because, and I can’t believe I’m going to admit this, but two of my all-time-favorite-comedies-maybe-my-favorite-comedies-of-all-time, 30 Rock and Arrested Development, didn’t hit with me upon the first viewing of the first episodes. (But I hard disagree with Fleabag. That was great from the get-go.)
