Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

The Emmys’ ratings dramatically improved from January’s ceremony. (It’s still pitifully low, though.)

And the Olympics were a big hit for both broadcast and Peacock.

Students are eligible for a $1.99 a month Hulu subscription.

Netflix’s first half of 2024 has been dominated by the Brits: Fool Me Once, Bridgerton, The Gentlemen, and Baby Reindeer were watched for a combined 360 million times.

This is a very poorly written question, Jeopardy!

Obviously, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was originally intended to be a Max movie instead of the box office hit that it’s become. Warner Bros. Discovery has NO IDEA what they are doing over there.

The View had to read a statement from Anna Delvey’s lawyers to clarify that while she is a fraudster, she doesn’t owe anyone any money.

Reality Steve broke the story that Devin Strader, the “winner” of this season of The Bachelorette had been arrested back in 2017 for burglary after he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment to steal a diamond necklace he had given her. But that’s not all:

The woman also alleged to police that Strader had “come to her house banging on the door several times and screaming at her,” and that she had since filed a restraining order against him. “Later that evening, [Strader] made a fire out in the street with what appeared to be the actual restraining order,” the affidavit further alleged. “She also had a tire flattened in her vehicle and when it was getting changed, [Strader] came outside and began laughing at her.” Strader was subsequently arrested on burglary charges. He ultimately pleaded guilty to charges of criminal trespass and simple criminal damage to property of less than $500, and received one year of unsupervised probation.

First of all, this man in the past week has had the audacity to make videos “explaining” his side of the breakup with Jenn Tran, videos that included private text messages between them. He had the AUDACITY to make these videos when this information about his past behavior has been out there just waiting to be found? Are you kidding me?

BUT SECONDLY, HOW DID HE GET THROUGH THE SCREENING PROCESS FOR THIS SHOW? I AM GOING TO NEED THE BACHELORETTE PRODUCERS TO SIT DOWN AND EXPLAIN TO ALL OF US HOW A MAN WHO HAD A RESTRAINING ORDER TAKEN OUT BY AN EX-GIRLFRIEND, A MAN WHO WAS ARRESTED FOR BREAKING INTO HER HOME, AND WHO TERRORIZED HER GOT THE GREEN LIGHT TO BE ON THIS SHOW. The safety of the lead — and the other contestants, quite frankly — should be the show’s number one priority, and it is shameful that this asshole slipped through the cracks.  Embarrassing. You should be embarrassed, The Bachelorette.

Meanwhile, Bachelorette fans are rooting for these two. Who knows? Frankly, I think it’s all for attention while she competes on Dancing with the Stars — he’s already agreed to go to Paradise — but weirder things have happened.

90 Day Fiance’s Big Ed is engaged to a woman he met 24 hours previous. I’m sure this will all work out great for everyone involved.

Bowen Yang reveals that Shane Gillis called and apologized to him for the whole political correctness kerfuffle, right before he got fired by SNL.

Kelly Monaco revealed that she took a pay cut on General Hospital, squashing a rumor that she refused a pay cut and that’s why her character is going to be killed off.

Sounds like that upcoming Mr. Beast competition series is a dangerous mess.

I love this so much:

#MeToo

The big news today is that Sean “Diddy” Combs has been arrested on federal charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution, for crimes that go back as far as 2008. He faces up to 20 years if he is found guilty.

Just last week, Combs was hit with his ninth lawsuit, this one from Dawn Richard, a former bandmate who accused him of sexual harassment and assault. She brought allegations of “battery, false imprisonment, withholding millions of dollars in unpaid royalties and wages, as well as stealing her copyrighted works.”

Harvey Weinstein is facing new charges in Manhattan.

Francis Ford Coppola is suing Variety for reporting that he was being a gross old man on the set of Megalopolis, I mean defamation.

I NEED EVERYONE TO LEAVE THIS WOMAN ALONE ABOUT HER BODY, JESUS CHRIST.

Hey, whatever did happen with all those harassment allegations against Elon Musk? Asking for no particular reason.

Connie Chung has written a new book about her career and the sexism she faced, and she is calling ERRRRRRYBODY out including Dan Rather.

Nikki Garcia has filed for divorce from former Dancing with the Stars pro Artem Chigvintsev.

Neil Gaiman has offered to step away from Good Omens if it allows the series to proceed at Prime Video. Let’s hope the network takes him up on it.

The BBC is having a rough go of it:

Jay Blades, a BBC television host of The Repair Shop, was charged with “controlling and coercive behavior.” (Domestic abuse.) The BBC has pulled episodes of The Repair Shop in which Blades appears.

Former BBC presenter Huw Edwards received a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to accessing child abuse images. The BBC promises he will not return to the network.

The BBC also insists that their investigation into the Strictly Come Dancing allegations is almost complete.
