The huge news of the day is that Jon Stewart is returning to The Daily Show. And … and I don’t want to give little ol’ me too much credit, but DID I PREDICT THIS?

Stewart will only host on Mondays and he doesn’t come back until February 12 and he will only stick around through the election season (whatever that will be with The Former January 6th-Instigator-in-Chief back in the race), BUT, YOU KNOW WHAT, I’LL TAKE WHAT I CAN GET. This man abandoned us right before the 2016 election and through the Former President Nutella Face years and I’ve never quite forgiven him. This helps the anger a little bit. 

The internet suggests that this is Comedy Central admitting defeat in their search for a full-time host, and maybe it is! But I don’t care how we got here, it’s what the show needed.

Former Daily Show correspondents and now Late Night heavyweights themselves, Stephen Colbert and John Oliver, celebrated Stewart’s return:

“Jordan’s back,” said Oliver upon learning the news in real time.

As for Colbert, he joked in his monologue: “Welcome back, Jon. Welcome back. Remember, this isn’t some Apple TV project. This is The Daily Show. So you’re gonna want to wear your cleanest gray t-shirt.”

At the beginning of Final Celebrity Jeopardy!, ABC ran a scroll promoting the fact that Celebrity Jeopardy! champion Lisa Ann Walter would be on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that night. EXCEPT SHE HADN’T WON YET. Not cool, ABC. Not cool.

Peacock is losing less money — but they’re still losing money. That said, the January 13th Chiefs/Dolphins game that was only available on Peacock brought in 2.8 million subscribers. (How many of them remain subscribers remains to be seen.)

The New York Times has crunched the numbers on exactly how much time is spent showing Taylor Swift during NFL games, and it’s not nearly as much as the “dads, Brads, and Chads” who are complaining about her “ruining” their sport would have you believe. In fact, during the three-hour games, she is shown less than 25 seconds on average, and the most she was shown in a game was 1 minute and 16 seconds over five shots during the January 13th game. It reminds me of the studies that show that if women speak 25% of the time or less, they are perceived by men to have spoken an equal amount of time. If they speak 30% or more, they are perceived to have dominated a conversation.

And let’s be real clear here, it was not Taylor Swift’s fault Jason Kelce went full-on feral during the Bills game.

Dr. Phil’s new network is set to launch two new news series next month and they are both helmed by Houston news personalities: Morning on Merit Street will be hosted by former KPRC-TV anchor Dominique Sachse, and The News on Merit Street will be hosted by former KPRC-TV reporter Kris Gutierrez. No word on when the shows will premiere yet.

The West Wing is returning …. but calm down, it’s just going to be a book.
