President Biden announced yesterday that the United States will not be sending any government representatives to the Beijing Winter Olympics as a protest of China’s human rights abuses. American athletes will be allowed to compete. This certainly adds to the pressure some have put on NBCUniversal to not cover these Games, but I promise you, they aren’t going to cave. NBC is definitely going to air the Winter Olympics, and they’ll make a mess of it the same way they did the Tokyo Games. As for whether I’ll recap them, having not recapped Tokyo, I’m not sure yet. I will say that I have a lot of reservations about it.

Pastor Craig Duke of the Newburgh United Methodist Church in Newburgh, Indiana, participated in We’re Here, HBO’s drag series, to show that he supports the LGBTQ community and his queer daughter, and to try to open some dialogue within the church itself. Welp, he was fired for his empathy. To Pastor Craig’s profound credit, he knew this was a possibility, but he took the chance in the hopes of changing his church’s position on gay rights. I’m not in the least bit surprised, but it’s still heartbreaking. You are a good man, Pastor Craig.

Live in Front of a Studio Audience returns tonight with recreations of The Facts of Life and Diff’rent Strokes. Here producers Norman Lear and Brent Miller talk about the nuts and bolts of producing the live shows, including the fact that the cast only has a couple of days of rehearsal.

New supe alert.

Maybe all of these people connected to the Rust shooting should stop talking to the press so much? Maybe their lawyers should advise them to shut the fuck up already?

This is an interesting interview with Nick Kroll on Big Mouth and how they come up with ideas for the show. Apparently, they consult with both Sex Educators and students, which considering how genuinely thoughtful the raunchy series is, is not all that surprising.

Jeopardy!‘s first openly trans champion Amy Schneider isn’t afraid to get political.
