GIVE TO ME THE BABY
@zoolotse Capybara-Jungtier fällt beim Streicheln um Im Video anbei seht Ihr mich mit einem der Capybara-Jungtiere, die derzeit bei uns im Zoo Dortmund heranwachsen. Das junge Nagetier holt sich gerade ein paar Streicheeinheiten bei mir ab, die es ganz offensichtlich genießt, und fällt dabei sogar um – sicherlich, um besser entspannen zu können. Die Capybara in unserem Zoo sind, wie auch im Video anbei zu sehen, recht zutraulich. Diese Kontaktfreudigkeit fördern wir im Umgang mit den Wasserschweinen, wie Capybara im Deutschen auch genannt werden, und dies auch schon bei den Jungtieren. So können wir die Tiere zum Beispiel im Rahmen einer tierärztlichen Untersuchung problemlos abtasten und zum Teil auch behandeln, oder eine Medikamentenverabreichung ist gezielt an einzelne Tiere möglich. Auch können wir bei den Kleinen nun den Ernährungszustand kontrollieren. Solche Streicheleinheiten, eine Massage oder ein Abbürsten dient natürlich aber auch der Entspannung der Tiere, stärkt andererseits aber auch das Vertrauensverhältnis zwischen den Zoobewohnern und ihren Pflegern.
