Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
As promised, some Widow’s Bay links now that the season finale aired. In other news, I might just recap this one, I loved it so much. Stay tuned. Until then, there might be spoilers in the links below, so please tread carefully:
- Though the finale made that big reveal, there are still many, many unanswered questions, including teeth, bells, and basements. And what about Ruth? and Lauren? Also, what’s going on with the Inn and what’s Wyck’s story?
- Den of Geek argues that the calendar should be the one mystery left unresolved next season.
- Give the cast all of the Emmys. Especially Kate O’Flynn.
- Here are a bunch of horror easter eggs and allusions found throughout the series.
- Creator Kate Dippold talks about the show’s origin as a spoof of Parks & Recreation (which got her a job on Parks & Recreation):
“I wrote it as a spec script for Parks & Recreation, but that version was much jokier,” she explained. “It was more comedic, and I think it gave a good idea of my sense of humor. But I don’t know that I would have watched that show, because I think it could have felt more like a spoof, and as a horror fan, I just wanna be immersed into the island.”
- Dippold is also interested in possibly making a stand-alone miniseries about the island’s history. PUT IT STRAIGHT INTO MY EYEBALLS.
- In the same article above, a note from Damon Lindelof: “So glad you’re giving this show its flowers,” he wrote. “It deserves bouquets.” Indeed.
- If you love Widow’s Bay, you should check out these shows; and these shows; and these shows; and these shows and movies, too. One show egregiously missing from these lists: Lost. And Los Espookys. Oh, and Wellington Paranormal. Also, iZombie, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Chucky, The Baby, Supernatural, and Dead Set. But most obviously, if you love Widow’s Bay, get thee to Parks and Recreation first and foremost. And follow that up with Atlanta, which, honestly, has one of the scariest single episodes of television I’ve ever seen.
Louis C.K., Whitney Cummings, Woody Harrelson, Arianna Huffington, Jay Leno, John Mellencamp, and Stephen A. Smith: The lineup for Bill Maher’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor ceremony is the most Bill Maher.
Hi guys, I was mean to Shealyn Scott last night and I profoundly regret it. Shame on me for insulting a human being for doing their job. I’m very sorry, Shealyn. And I’m sorry to those who follow me that you saw me behave like that. Turns out, last night, I sucked.

Here’s a The Boys blooper reel if you’re feeling a Boys-shaped hole in your life right about now.
Littlefinger thinks there’s too much TV. I beg to differ.
Dustin Nolan, an Iowa news anchor, stepped down from his job, and denounced the “sanitized” news in his goodbye: “I’ve always believed that we, as a local news station, owe you, the viewers, the best that we can do, because without you, none of us would be able to do this job,” he added. “I also believe that we, as a local news station, have to be more than trends or sanitized news, because it makes people feel uncomfortable. That’s why the facts matter, and that’s why we do what we do here. We have to take people out of their bubbles and comfort zones and make them think about the world we all live in.”
(I should note he also said he wasn’t fired, and that he wasn’t quitting on air — that he had made this decision some time ago to pursue a new chapter in his career.)
@kwqc.news KWQC TV6 morning anchor Dustin Nolan announced on-air Friday that he’s leaving the station and stepping away from the news industry. Nolan thanked viewers for welcoming him into their mornings and said he’s worked to be transparent and deliver the facts, calling local news a public service to the Quad Cities. He also reflected on the importance of covering issues that matter, even when uncomfortable, and credited his wife Jenna—his co-anchor on the desk and “co-anchor in life”—along with other colleagues for their support. Nolan closed with a final sign-off to viewers: “Good day and goodbye.” quadcities iowanews anchorsignoff emotionalgoodbye kwqc local news dustinnolan gooddayandgoodbye
Stephen Baldwin is delusional.
The East Wing is in rubble, the Ellipse is a grassless pit, the Reflecting Pond is filled with algae, and we’re arresting Olympians for touching it, and The Kennedy Center is shrouded by curtains to hide President Turnip’s shame. Happy Birthday, America!
Get well soon, Moshe Kasher. And fuck cancer.
Congratulations to Anne Hathaway and her family!

James Burrows, Legendary TV creator and director who helped shape the modern sitcom. He won 11 Emmys and was nominated a staggering 47 times. He co-created Cheers, and directed over 1,000 episodes of television including, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, Taxi, Frasier, Friends, Will and Grace, and The Big Bang Theory
“Rhea and I are deeply saddened by the passing of Jimmy Burrows,” says DeVito. “The entire DeVito family feels the loss of such an exceptional man, and we send our love to Debbie, Jimmy’s children, and all of his loved ones. Jimmy guided Rhea and me through 16 seasons of television. He was the very best at his craft. His positive spirit, boundless energy, and tireless work defined what it takes to run a show and keep people laughing. He will always be in our hearts.” —Danny DeVito
“Jimmy was my show business father, my mentor and my friend. For 11 years his laughter taught me what was funny and what was not. Nothing made me happier than to make him laugh. I can only imagine that there are thousands of actors who feel the same way. Mary [Steenburgen] and I send all our love to his family. He will be in our hearts and our funnybones forever.” — Ted Danson
Time spent with Jimmy Burrows was time worth laughing about. A great comedy guy and a very nice man. RIP.
