This is a two-parter that I guess is a little … PG? (But not really.)

Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
I know the decision to make this announcement now has to do with complicated financial things that I don’t know anything about, but if I were DirecTV, I wouldn’t be announcing a price hike right now. Maybe turn my ABC back on before you start threatening to shake me down?
And in a sign that this dispute between DirecTV and Disney isn’t ending anytime soon, both companies are offering discounts to be applied to alternative options. Oh, and here’s another sign: DirecTV is whining to the FCC that Disney is not negotiating in good faith. I’d be more sympathetic if my prices weren’t about to be hiked, DirecTV.
The Creative Emmys (read: the Emmys they don’t have time for on the regular broadcast) were this weekend. On Saturday, some notable winners included: Pat Sajack for game show host; Jeopardy! for best game show; Alan Cumming as host for reality or reality competition; Shark Tank for structured reality program and Welcome to Wrexham for unstructured reality program.
On Sunday, some notable winners were: Jamie Lee Curtis as guest actress in a comedy in The Bear; Jon Berenthal as guest actor in a comedy in The Bear; Nestor Carbonell for guest actor in a drama for Shogun; Michaela Coel as guest actress in a drama for Mr. & Mrs. Smith; and Benj Pasek and Justin Paul who became the newest EGOTs after winning best original music and lyrics for their Only Murders in the Building song, “Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?.”
Kendrick Lamar will continue his destruction of Drake on the Super Bowl stage.
Performing at the Super Bowl in response to a song where the guy you beefing with said he was “big as the Super Bowl” is the craziest rebuttal in hip hop history.

hating your way to the super bowl has to be the greatest achievement in hate

Kendrick went from being at home minding his own business to headlining the super bowl all because Drake didn’t know how to pick his battles.

The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon has been reduced by 20%.
If you are a Sopranos fan, it is imperative you watch the HBO/Max documentary, Wise Guy: David Chase and The Sopranos. TV Insider has some interesting revelations from the show, but it’s really worth your time overall. (Also, how the hell did The Sopranos get left out of my Foolishness Tournament this year? Oh well, will fix it next year. Also, go vote.)
If you watched Kaos on Netflix, you might have noticed that it looked a lot like a Baz Luhrmann production (to the point that your neighborhood TV blogger had to run to Netflix to confirm that Luhrmann wasn’t, in fact, a producer). It’s not a Luhrmann series, but the creators definitely took inspiration from Luhrmann — from his Romeo + Juliet, specifically — by copying that look, and unknowingly casting in the lead one of the movie’s star’s daughters, as Aurora Perrineau recently revealed:
FUN FACT:
When I was cast in KAOS on Netflix, the mood board was heavily influenced by Baz Luhrmans Romeo + Juliet. Mercutio was prominent on the board. It wasn’t until part way through filming that the creators found out he is my dad. @netflix @NetflixUK @HaroldPerrineau pic.twitter.com/p4ctOwMavX— Aurora Perrineau (@AuroraPerrineau) September 7, 2024
There will be a One Day at a Time reunion … sorta.
Prison Break is the most recent old show that people are binging on Netflix? OK, but why?
Kathy Bates says that Matlock will be her last role.
People aren’t happy about fraudster Anna Delvey’s inclusion on the Dancing with the Stars cast, including the ladies of The View, and now Delvey’s feelings are all hurt.
While you are entitled to your own opinions, you should at least get your facts straight. I served my time and paid everyone back in full 3+ years ago. Looking forward to your on-air correction.

I am very much for this Better Call Saul reunion that has nothing to do with Better Call Saul.
I know this can apply to 99% of the things this man says, but sit this one out, Bill Maher.
I swear, these people are just cosplaying Succession at this point.
Beyoncé was snubbed by the CMAs again. Wonder why.
If you don’t know about Hunter and Tara Woodhall … prepare to fall in love.
Get better soon, Patty Scialfa. Take good care of yourself.
Hoping Kate Middleton is completely healthy soon.
