Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

Gina Carano is using Elon Musk’s money to sue Disney for firing her from The Mandalorian after she posted on social media that being a Republican is like being Jewish during the Holocaust. She’s claiming wrongful termination and discrimination, arguing that male Star Wars actors like Mark Hamil and Pedro Pascal made political posts without any repercussions. The problem for her case is that Disney is a private company headquartered in an at-will employment state, and they can fire anyone they want as long as it’s not unlawful. Disagreement with one’s political views does not equal discrimination. And sometimes free speech has consequences.

Elon is doubling down and offering to cover the legal expenses of any Disney employee who thinks they’ve been discriminated against by their diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. This will certainly save Twitter, Elon. Definitely not another huge waste of money.

Fox Corp., Warner Bros. Discovery, and Disney are teaming up to create a sports streaming app that will put ESPN, TNT, and Fox Sports together on one standalone app. No word on how much it will cost, but considering the amount of content, don’t expect it to be cheap.

The offering will provide subscribers with access to content from linear sports networks including ESPN, ESPN+, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS, FOX, FS1, FS2, BTN, TNT, TBS, truTV, as well as the ABC network. Content will include the NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, NHL, NASCAR, College Sports, UFC, PGA TOUR Golf, Grand Slam Tennis, the FIFA World Cup, cycling and much more. Subscribers would also have the option to bundle the product, with Disney+, Hulu and Max.

The joint venture will shift the paradigm for sports on streaming, but an individual with knowledge told TheWrap it will also include all content from participating channels. So yes, the joint venture will include all sports that air on Fox and ABC, but also “Family Guy,” “Abbott Elementary” and all other originals that air live.

Honestly, live sports is one of the only reasons I keep cable around (MSNBC is one of the other reasons — move it to Peacock already, guys); this could be the thing that ends that.

Henry Cavill says he doesn’t understand the need for sex scenes and finds them largely unnecessary. SIR, HAVE YOU EVER SEEN YOURSELF IN A MIRROR?

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will become just Hallmark Mystery on February 28, which honestly is something that other networks should learn something from. LOOKING AT YOU PARAMOUNT+ WITH SHOWTIME.

Breaking Bad if no one was careful (H/T: Pajiba):

The A.V. Club asks why we keep remaking book adaptations on TV after they failed as movies (One Day is going to come out as a series on Netflix tomorrow after being a flop as an Anne Hathaway film in 2011), and they answer their own question: because Hollywood loves a known quantity, duh.

Uh-oh: Production on Apple TV+’s Foundation has been paused — after cast and crew arrived for filming. That doesn’t sound promising.

Juan Carlos Osorio, a rigger on the set of Wonder Man, died on set after falling off of a catwalk.

LOL, dummies are mad that Netflix’s Alexander: The Making of a God “turned” Alexander the Great gay. Boy, do I have some news for them about Achilles.

Tucker Carlson is in Russia to receive orders from his master interview Vladimir Putin, and he’s out here claiming that he’s the only Western journalist to have “bothered” to do so. Actual journalists are calling bullshit.

Well, well, well, look at Megyn Kelly here clutching her pearls that MSNBC hosts have a cozy relationship with the Biden White House as if the connection between Former President Ketchup Thrower and Fox News hasn’t been a Human Centipede for the past eight years.

Look at CNN actually confronting Republicans for tanking their own immigration bill because Former President White Nationalist doesn’t want to give President Biden a win on the issue in an election year. What craven, spineless idiots.

Get well soon, Tyne Daly!
