So, why hasn’t ‘The Bachelor’ been renewed yet?

It’s Wednesday and we are already halfway through this week somehow.

And I’m going to assume this momma deer and dog have been buddies for a while:

All Other TV News

As I’ve mentioned, it’s been Upfronts week (though it doesn’t feel like it thanks to the pandemic), and the networks have been announcing new series, canceling underperforming ones, and renewing their old reliables. But what’s interesting this year is that ABC has not yet renewed their most popular series … The Bachelor.

As we’ve been exhaustively covering here, The Bachelor has had a … bumpy year, what with the whole thing where they had to suspend their host of twenty-five seasons for being racially insensitive and having their first Black Bachelorette disassociate herself from the series out of disgust. ANYWAY. At the Upfronts, President of ABC Entertainment and Hulu Originals, Craig Erwich, bragged on the upcoming seasons of The Bachelorette, the return of Bachelor in Paradise, and possible spinoffs for Hulu, but there was no word about the parent series, The Bachelor, which usually returns in January. HMMM.

Erwich told Deadline that “We’ll have more to share on The Bachelor itself soon enough.” I’m guessing they are trying to work out thorny contract issues with Chris Harrison, that they want to get rid of him as host, but it’s proving more difficult than just firing him. The series will almost certainly not be canceled — I could never be so lucky — but I suspect ABC wants to wait to make any announcements about the new season until everything is decided regarding Harrison. STAY TUNED.

As for the second-most-popular series on ABC, Grey’s Anatomy, which was just renewed for an 18th season, Erwich has said he’ll take it as long as they want to make it. As for The Goldbergs … it’s been renewed for next season, but my gut says this upcoming season will be its last.

Pose‘s Billy Porter revealed he is HIV-positive and has been for 14 years. He writes about his journey, which mirrors his character Pray Tell’s, and why COVID pushed him to finally be open about his status. It’s truly moving.

I’m the healthiest I’ve been in my entire life. So it’s time to let all that go and tell a different story. There’s no more stigma — let’s be done with that. It’s time. I’ve been living it and being in the shame of it for long enough. And I’m sure this will follow me. I’m sure this is going to be the first thing everybody says, “HIV-positive blah, blah, blah.” OK. Whatever. It’s not the only thing I am. I’m so much more than that diagnosis. And if you don’t want to work with me because of my status, you’re not worthy of me.

Yeah, I mean, a bunch of Navy pilots told 60 Minutes about the UFOs they saw, and that’s cool and all, but here’s the former president confirming that aliens UFOs are real. Which kinda seems like big news? Why aren’t we acting like this is big news?

Fox News is asking a judge to throw out Dominion Voting System’s $1.6 billion lawsuit. OK.

Criss “Mindfreak” Angel is opening a restaurant and it has the stupidest possible name. (Still, it’s a restaurant for a good cause, so, you know.)

Feel better soon, Nick Jonas!
