Hulu is responding to Sarah Michelle Gellar’s accusations that the Buffy revival was killed by an executive who wasn’t a fan of the original series, by blaming Chloe Zhao’s directing, the show being “too young,” and there not being enough Buffy Summers in the pilot episode instead. Reportedly, Hulu/Disney, which owns the Buffy IP, has hopes that they might be able to try again, but considering how much they have clearly pissed Gellar off, it’s unlikely she’ll return.
Speaking of Gellar, she urges fans not to read the leaked Buffy pilot script, noting that pilot episodes are works in progress and don’t reflect what the final product will look like.
A former Bachelorette producer predicts that the current producers will try to spin their casting of Taylor Frankie Paul (whom they clearly knew was a mess) as trying to help her “turn her life around.” This is very plausible.
Paul is out here trying to pretend that we haven’t all been spoiled as to the end of her season of The Bachelorette by the revelation that she was back with her baby daddy (and allegedly beating him up) as of three weeks ago. Ma’am. Look, you might end up giving someone the “final rose,” but it’s clear that whoever that is — if it’s anyone — is no longer in your life, so.

- Uncorked, a romantic comedy series set in Napa Valley from Darren Star, has been ordered at Netflix.
- The Cackling of the Dodos, a film directed by Jason Bateman, and starring Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell, has been announced at Netflix.
- The Game of Life is being turned into a movie at Amazon MGM.
