Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
Before we get started, I just want to acknowledge the horrific mass shooting in Monterey Park, California, at a Lunar New Year’s celebration, in which 10 people lost their lives, and 10 others were injured. My heart breaks for the families and friends of the victims, for the community at large, and for all of us as Americans. We don’t have to live this way.
I am not going to rant and scream and lecture, what’s the point? All I will say is this is the fifth mass shooting in 2023. It’s January 23. It’s the guns, y’all.
Taking a wide turn, as I mentioned in my SNL recap, everyone and their brother has taken their shots at George Santos before SNL was able to get around to it. Here are some of the best examples.
Here are some facts about The Last of Us that won’t spoil you if you haven’t watched last night’s episode — and that big death yet. Yeah, you should go watch it soon before you have the episode ruined for you.
The upcoming Natasha Lyonne series Poker Face is a part of the Knives Out universe in a very small way.
Emilia Clarke is not watching House of the Dragon.
I’m still mad at them for canceling Teenage Bounty Hunters, and you can’t tell me that show had a huge budget.
Adam Lambert thinks he lost American Idol because of homophobia (and he’s probably not terribly wrong.)
Does Adam Lambert think homophobia lost him #AmericanIdol? "Probably, probably. But that was 10 years ago. https://t.co/vid4Pu4xgu | Variety Studio presented by @audible_com pic.twitter.com/nhyt9CfPix

Regarding tallies of gun violence: I’ve seen a couple of counts cited, and the difference may be due to terminology. It appears “mass killings” involve at least 4 fatalities (not including the perpetrator) at one location; “mass shootings” involve a total of at least 4 fatalities and injuries (not including the perpetrator) at one location. Per USA Today, the Monterey Park incident is this year’s 5th mass killing. Per the Gun Violence Archive, the Monterey Park incident is this year’s 33rd mass shooting.
Horrible either way.
