The Fox News Christmas tree was set on fire and Fox & Friends are SO MAD about this attack on Hanukkah. (I am not kidding.)

Some madman once tried to make a movie with killer golden retrievers. It went about as well as you’d expect:

All Other TV News

Some dude set the Fox News Christmas tree on fire. Now they’re NEVER going to shut up about the “War of Christmas.”

Wait, hold up, the Christmas tree is about Hanukkah? Does …  does Ainsley know what Hanukkah is?

Last night’s Live in Front of a Studio Audience: The Facts of Life and Diff’rent Strokes was unsurprisingly delightful with a number of surprise guest stars and a reunion of The Facts of Life cast (well, most of them) (where were you, Nancy?) (and it kinda only served to remind me and bum me out that Todd Bridges is literally the only surviving member of Diff’rent Strokes) (also, Lisa Whelchel clearly has a portrait of herself hidden in her attic).

ABC also made 80s promos for some of their shows, like this one for The Bachelor:

(You can check out all of them here.)

And some companies got into the act, too, like Jack in the Box, Heinz, Kraft Singles, and Kool-Aid:

Kudos to the ABC advertising department, they had a big night.

The creator of BoJack Horseman revealed on Twitter that Netflix had him cut a joke about David Fincher while wondering why Netflix is acting like they can’t censor Dave Chappelle:

Bob-Waksberg then turned the attention the tweet received into a fundraiser for Trans Lifeline, with the promise to reveal the joke if 100 people donated. People met his challenge:

Congratulations on your People’s Choice Awards, everyone! But this list is bananas!

I mentioned yesterday that NBC will be facing more pressure over the Beijing Olympics, but that they’ll certainly broadcast them anyway. But I hadn’t factored the controversy over Peng Shuai into the equation … (They’re still going to broadcast them.)

It’s been … a lot here in Texas.

This Week:

New York Times

On the one hand, the alarming jump this week in the number of cases from last week is in large part thanks to the reporting issues surrounding holidays. It’s not like there was a sudden explosion from 83,000 cases to 120,000 cases. THAT SAID, 120,000 cases a day is STILL REAL BAD. You couple that with more hospitalizations and more deaths … January is going to be grim again.

Please get vaccinated and get your kids vaccinated and if you are double vaxxed, go get that booster. The good news I have for you is that the booster (at least the Pfizer booster) protects you from the Omicron variant. Just go ahead and do it — the booster is fully effective two weeks after you get the dose, so you’ll be all set just in time for Christmas.

Speaking of Omicron, we still don’t know a whole lot about it, but there are early signs that it is more transmissible than the original virus and the Delta variant, but it might be milder in terms of symptoms. THAT DOES NOT MEAN WE SHOULD ENCOURAGE ITS SPREAD.

New York City is going to require vaccines for private sector businesses beginning on December 27. They are also adding vaccine requirements for kids to be able to go see Broadway shows. Good.

Meanwhile, in one dumb state, the Governor commissioned a study to see if mask mandates work, and when the science confirmed that they do, he buried the report.

And then there is the Congressional idiot caucus.

How does this work? So Mark Meadows, former Chief of Staff for Former President Flopsweat, wrote a book that revealed his boss had COVID during the Presidential debates, when he met with a bunch of Gold Star families and during the party for Amy Coney Barrett. Meadows then goes on Newsmax and claims that Former President Superspreader didn’t have COVID during the debate, and likes a statement Former President Shitstain put out that essentially said, “NUH-UH.” Agreeing that your own book is “FAKE NEWS,” friends, is the very definition of spinelessness.

Over in the U.K., Boris Johnson is in the middle of a controversy after video emerged of his staff joking about a Christmas party it sounds like they held during the lockdown, breaking the law.

Emerald Robinson has been fired at Newsmax for spreading lies and misinformation about COVID and vaccines. It’s a start.

Trevor Noah stirred some shit with this video expressing skepticism that the head of Moderna could be objective about the possibility of needing a new vaccine for the Omicron variant. Just … get the vaccine, y’all. Pfizer has already said that the booster does the job, so just go get the shot.

America’s Got Talent two-time contestant Jay Jay Phillips has died from COVID. He was not vaccinated.

UFC President Dana White caught COVID, but don’t worry, he’s consulting with Joe Rogan.

NFL players Antonio Brown, Mike Edwards, and John Franklin III have been suspended for three games for faking vaccine cards.

And then there’s the Italian guy who literally tried to use a fake arm for his shot.

The White House Correspondent’s Dinner is back on (for now).

  1. From a member of a bulletin board I frequent:

“If there is a War on Christmas, it is a defensive war and Christmas is the aggressor. Thanksgiving has fallen and Halloween is trying to hold the line.”
