Hey, remember how Dave Chappelle’s people said he’d be happy to sit down with the trans employees at Netflix and have a conversation with them? Yeah, he just posted a video on Instagram saying that he doesn’t know “what all this nonsense is about,” and that, “I said what I said,” and …
“To the transgender community, I am more than willing to give you an audience, but you will not summon me. I am not bending to anybody’s demands. And if you want to meet with me, I’d be more than willing to, but I have some conditions. First of all, you cannot come if you have not watched my special from beginning to end. You must come to a place of my choosing at a time of my choosing, and thirdly, you must admit that Hannah Gadsby is not funny.”
One of the things Chappelle could have chosen to not do is everything he's doing right now.

As for coming for Hannah Gadsby:
lol all of the dudes in my mentions in response to this tweet can die mad
😘
— Kendall Brown (@kendallybrown) October 26, 2021
Dave once told me, when he started doing more deconstructed shows, that he realized he didn't necessarily have to be funny to hold a crowd in his hand, he just had to be interesting.
You'd think an artist who realized that would see it in Hannah Gadsby, who is both.
— A Shady Dame From Seville (@SorayaMcDonald) October 26, 2021
Hannah Gadsby describing Dave as a man who "gets 20 million dollars to process his emotionally stunted partial world view.”
Chappelle retorting with Hannah Gadsby's "not funny".
😬 More touchy than touché.
— Andrew Galvin (@MaxHomo) October 25, 2021
But his dig about Hannah Gadsby does highlight the point of my article. Gadsby used her comedy platform in order to talk about how being constantly dehumanized wears away the soul. She broke what to Chappelle is the cardinal rule of comedy and stopped taking the fucking joke.
— Aja Romano (@ajaromano) October 25, 2021
Gadsby used comedy to deconstruct what happens when we tell a joke at someone else's expense. That's anathema to Chappelle, who wants his jokes to challenge people with privilege but who for some unearthly reason thinks trans people fall into that category https://t.co/vnyrwHG9lg

More updates on the Rust story:
A prop master turned down the job on Rust because he was so concerned about the production cutting corners that might lead to safety issues, including wanting to hire one person to be both prop master and armorer.
“In the movies, the prep is everything. …You also need time to clean, inspect and repair guns,” he told the newspaper. “You need time to fix old clocks. In period films, you are sometimes using antiques. But here, there was absolutely no time to prepare, and that gave me a bad feeling.”
The release of Flint, a documentary narrated by Alec Baldwin, has been postponed indefinitely.
Ghouls on the right are using the tragedy to try to score disgusting political points. J.D. Vance said Twitter should bring Former President Dementia back to make Alec Baldwin jokes; Candace Owens called the accident “poetic justice;” and Dummy Jr. is out there literally selling T-shirts. Chris Hayes gets it:
“I have come to think of what those on the right like J.D. Vance are doing now as ‘vice signaling,’” says @chrislhayes. “‘Look at me, I’m a loud, ostentatious jerk.’ But that is increasingly what it means to be a right-wing politician in America these days.” pic.twitter.com/QdGEnxY3EH

For those of you who don’t subscribe to Paramount+, but who miss Evil, they are making one (1) episode from season two available to stream for free. (It’s a fun episode — I suggest you take them up on the offer.)
This is cool. This is in response to people who miss the show, but hated that it cost money to watch on #ParamountPlus. We asked our betters if they would put one episode out for free: a self-contained episode like S is for Silence. So here it is. #EvilReturns https://t.co/uGNdRv1K1b

Someone asked Succession fans who the villain is, and while one character pulled far ahead (Logan, duh), there is only one real answer:
The viewer who skips the theme song.

Congratulations to Colin Jost who as of last weekend has become the longest-serving host of “Weekend Update” on Saturday Night Live.
Facebook is getting its panties in a wad about an upcoming TV adaptation of a book about them, worried it will make them look bad. LOL LOL LOL LOL
You know Jim Caviezel, the star of Person of Interest and Passion of the Christ is a complete QAnon lunatic, right? (He is, and has been for a long while.) Well, here are some stories about his dumb, dangerous, racist, homophobic, and insane behavior on the set of Person of Interest — a show that if it had been made during the #MeToo era would have been SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY based on these stories. In fact, Taraji P. Henson quit the show over this bullshit. It’s amazing and worth reading:
If you want a real laugh listen to this episode of the QAnon Anonymous podcast. Former crew members from the show Person of Interest have some amazing/crazy/funny/scary stuff to say about him behind the scenes.

#MeToo
“Enough is enough,” Rose wrote in the post, tagging “Batwoman” showrunner Caroline Dries and Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of the show’s production company Berlanti Productions. “I’m going to tell the whole world what really happened to me on that set. I will come for you so what happened to me never happens to another person again. And so I can finally take back my life and the truth. Shame on you.”
As for former WB TV President Peter Roth: “Not sure if you left after getting promoted to the highest position because you just couldn’t stop making young women steam your pants, around your crotch while you were still wearing said pants or if you left after putting a private investigator on me who you fired as soon as the report didn’t fit your narrative, either way, when it comes to you, there’s already an army waiting for u.”
She then came for her co-star Dougray Scott: “Dougray hurt a female stunt double, he yelled like a little bitch at women and was a nightmare. He left when he wanted and arrived when he wanted. He abused women and in turn as a lead of a show I sent an email asking for a no yelling policy, they declined.”
She accused the showrunner of only being on set four times and said she encouraged Rose to work with Roth’s private investigator before concluding: “please to my dear, dear fans stop asking if I will return to that awful show, I wouldn’t return for any amount of money nor if a gun were to my head..” Rose added. “NOR DID I QUIT. I DO NOT QUIT, They ruined Kate Kane and they destroyed batwoman, not me.”
OH. OK. WOW.
Warner Bros. TV responded with a “Nuh-uh.”
Despite the revisionist history that Ruby Rose is now sharing online aimed at the producers, the cast and crew, the network, and the Studio, the truth is that Warner Bros. Television had decided not to exercise its option to engage Ruby for season two of Batwoman based on multiple complaints about workplace behavior that were extensively reviewed and handled privately out of respect for all concerned.
They then followed up with this statement about Scott:
We condemn the comments made by Ruby Rose about Dougray Scott. Warner Bros. has found Mr. Scott to be a consummate professional, and never received any allegation against him of bullying, or of abusive behavior on his part. Mr. Scott was greatly respected and admired by his colleagues, and was a leader on the set.
Pajiba has a long list of problems over at Warner Brothers, some of which I had heard about, others that came as news.
Good on Ruby Rose.
Naming names isn’t easy, but it must be done.

— Ray Fisher (@ray8fisher) October 20, 2021
Specific people were named, and WB’s defense is to generalize Ruby Rose’s account by making it seem like they’re taking wild swings at everyone in every department? 🤦🏾♂️
Now I’m no expert on hit pieces, but I know a WB whistleblower special when I read it.https://t.co/04uxGMN2OX https://t.co/ThMaK0QMeh

Emmy-winning choreographer Travis Wall is being investigated after multiple people have come forward accusing him of sexually inappropriate and predatory behavior.
Russia’s state media accused CNBC reporter Hadley Gamble of acting like a “sexual object” during her interview with Vladimir Putin so as to distract him. You have to read the full description here, it’s insane.

Vanity Fair has a list of the big-name comedians who have apologized to Monica Lewinsky for the gross jokes they told about her — along with a sampling of the jokes which … maybe is unnecessary?
A woman who appeared on The Dr. Phil Show as a teen is suing McGraw and ViacomCBS claiming that she was sexually assaulted at the Utah treatment center he recommended she be sent to.
A number of women have come forward to accuse the band All Time Low of being sexually inappropriate with them when they were minors. The band denies the claims. Hey, at least their name is appropriate.
