Goddammit, Lawrence O’Donnell, you dumb idiot.

As I mentioned in passing in yesterday’s post, Lawrence O’Donnell gave us a tantalizing piece of information as he was leading into Tuesday night’s show: that President Shyster’s tax returns (which Deutsche Bank has and might have to turn over to Congress) revealed that The Traitor-in-Chief had Russian oligarchs co-signing his loans.

Now, O’Donnell stressed that this story was from only one source and added that the source itself had not seen the returns — so, you know, not the most vetted story in the world, and one he DEFINITELY should have sat on until real reporting had taken place.

President Conman’s lawyers set upon O’Donnell and MSNBC and demanded a retraction, correction, and apology.

Now, if I were MSNBC, I’d be like, “ALRIGHT, SUE US, MOTHERFUCKERS!” because the tax returns would (presumably) have to become part of discovery. But instead, MSNBC made O’Donnell apologize and admit that it was wrong to discuss it on air. Which it was, but WHATEVER.

And because this idiot couldn’t keep it in his pants long enough for the story to be fully reported and sourced, now the Asshole-in-Chief is crowing about it:

But MSNBC is not the only news outlet the most powerful man on Earth is whining about. The most fragile human being on the planet is still mad at Fox News because they deign to have some Democrats as commentators and occasionally allow the DNC to come on for interviews. HOW DARE THEY NOT BE A PERFECT MOUTHPIECE FOR THE STATE. He also claimed that CNN is “begging” him to do an interview but I’m not buying it.

And here’s a Trump campaign press secretary claiming that The Lyingest President of All Time has never lied:

But, I mean, what else is she going to say, right?

In one last bit of political news that I neglected to mention, the next Democratic Presidential debate to take place here in Houston has been set, with 10 candidates participating: Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, Beto O’Rourke, Amy Klobuchar, Julian Castro, and Andrew Yang. Kirsten Gillibrand, who did not make the cut, dropped out of the race after this was announced.

YouTube has made all of their new original programming free (with ads) and have made the first season of Cobra Kai available.

The OA will not get a final movie, so you’re just going to have to be satisfied with what you got. That includes you, hunger strike lady.

Here are two Game of Thrones art books you can ask Santa for this year.

Eddie Murphy is hosting Saturday Night Live this season, and The Wrap has some suggestions of old characters he could revisit. Personally, I think the Undercover White Man might be the most interesting to explore some 35 years later.

Mac’s dance on last season’s finale of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia was the best, next question? (Although Mad Men’s “The Best Things in Life are Free” is a strong contender.)

Homeland, In Treatment, Euphoria, Your Honor, The Baker and the Beauty, The Spythese are just some of the shows inspired by or adapted from Israeli series. So what’s going on here?

A Philadelphia Old Navy has been accused of bringing in white employees and making their employees of color stay behind the scenes while an episode of Queer Eye was taped there. Come on, Old Navy.

This is very inside baseball, but Gabrielle Carteris won re-election as SAG-AFTRA president after a brutal campaign launched by Matthew Modine.

YIKES, KEVIN O’LEARY.

Two years later, an update on the Harvey fund that Houston Texans’ J.J. Watt set up: the $37 million he raised has built some 1,100 homes, rebuilt nearly a thousand childcare centers and after school programs, and provided millions of meals, and thousands of prescription drugs. Meanwhile, a hurricane is bearing down on Florida, so keep them in your thoughts and be prepared to help once it passes.

I know this isn’t TV-related, but it’s close to my heart and it’s my blog so I do what I want.

Sex Monster News

Wade Robson and James Safechuck, Michael Jackson’s featured in Finding Neverland, released statements condemning Dave Chappelle’s comments about them in his recent stand-up special:

Robson:

Whether Dave Chappelle believes I was sexually abused as a child, or not, is of no concern to me. Yet, to go on from there, in his new Netflix special, to shame victims and trivialize and condone child sexual abuse in general, especially if the abuser is a celebrity or someone in a place of power, is disgusting, irresponsible and inexcusable on the part of Dave Chappelle, and on the part of Netflix for providing him the platform with which to do so. 1 in 6 boys and 1 in 4 girls are sexually abused before the age of 18, and considering their actions, Dave Chappelle, Netflix, and the Michael Jackson Estate, who have recently supported Chappelle’s views, are part of the problem. I believe we can and should do better than this.

Safechuck:

I’m heartbroken for all those children who look to see how they will be received when they finally find the courage to speak out about their sexual abuse. I just want to reach out to other survivors and let them know that we can’t let this type of behavior silence us. Together we are strong.

Paz de la Huerta has added Bob Iger and Disney to her Harvey Weinstein lawsuit.

Richard Pryor’s former bodyguard has accused legendary comedian Paul Mooney of raping Richard Pryor Jr. as a teenager and Richard Pryor Jr. recently confirmed it. Mooney has denied the accusations and canceled a recent show in the wake of the allegations coming out.

#MeToo makes its way to the game development community. A composer of game soundtracks has been accused of rape, and other game developers came forward with their accounts of being assaulted by their peers.

Rotten Tomatoes has added some 600 critics in an attempt to be more inclusive of diverse voices. 55% of the new critics are women, so that’s a good start. CBS is also trying to do better.

  1. “Charisma Carpenter is joining the cast of Pandora on The CW.”

Rats. I may have to start watching that show. (Again. Yeah, I tried it for 2.5 episodes before giving up. But, if Cordelia is on it …)

  2. “Weve got a long way to go and a short time to get there…”
Thanks, now that song will be stuck in my head all afternoon
