Lena Headey gets it: Cersei deserved better.

Lena Headey, Cersei from Game of Thrones, has some things she wants to say to Benioff and Weiss, namely that she wished Cersei had a better death:

“I will say I wanted a better death.”

In the penultimate episode, Cersei was crushed by falling masonry along with her brother-lover Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). It was an underwhelming end, to put it politely.

“Obviously you dream of your death,” she says. “You could go in any way on that show. So I was kind of gutted. But I just think they couldn’t have pleased everyone. No matter what they did, I think there was going to be some big comedown from the climb.”

AMEN, SISTER. I actually have a whole list of things that I wanted for Cersei:

  1. More time seeing her as a ruler. What is Cersei actually like as Queen? Is she cruel? Is she surprisingly competent? Do the people fear her or do they actually love her? Or some kind of combination therein?
  2. Doing something, anything, other than stand around staring out a goddamned window all day.
  3. More answers about her pregnancy. I assume she was really pregnant, but in the end, it didn’t actually matter. The only thing that plot point was used for was as a tool Tyrion tried to use against her. My point is if they were going to include it, they should have made it actually matter.
  4. A BETTER DEATH. And by “better,” I mean much more terrifying and horrible, not a comforting hug from her brother-lover. This bitch is a MASS MURDERER, and we’re going to allow her to die by having bricks fall on her head with the man who she loves? ABSOLUTELY NOT. She needed to be strangled to death by either Jaime or Arya, and I will never accept another answer.

I’M STILL ANGRY ABOUT THIS ONE, BENIOFF AND WEISS. I CAN SWALLOW A LOT OF THE BULLSHIT YOU PULLED IN THE LAST SEASON BUT NOT THIS.

Jon Snow, he gets it, and he’s sorry and thinks there is only one thing to be done with season 8:

I have a lot of problems with this gallery comparing Game of Thrones characters to Parks and Recreation characters, but my biggest one is how do you miss the Tammy 2/Cersei connection? Tammy 2 is to Ron as Cersei is to Jaime, OBVIOUSLY. Although Bran/Orin is brilliant.

Here are a bunch of paparazzi photos from the set of Westworld, if you want to be spoiled. It looks like there is a new realm, is all that I’ll say.

Dick Wolf is planning a Law & Order/Chicago crossover.

So, I’ve been posting a lot about programming coming to something called Quibi, but honestly, I had no idea what Quibi was until now. Short answer: it’s a streaming platform designed to be watched on your phone; “Quibi” stands for “quick bites;” it will cost you $4.99 a month/ $7.99  month; it’s from Jeffrey Katzenberg; and Steven Spielberg, Antoine Fuqua, Catherine Hardwick, and Don Cheadle have all signed on to create content. Good luck, Quibi, you’re going to need it.

The Tick is really and officially dead and gone. The creator has not been able to find a new home for the series, alas.

If you are in Los Angeles this summer, you can go to a real-life Good Burger.

In case you were ever wondering which soap opera you belong in.

Some ABC stations, including KTRK here in Houston, posted a “digital birthday card” for President Trump that they encouraged viewers to sign, which, fine, whatever, but the card was designed by the Trump campaign and gathered the signers’ email addresses for future fundraising purposes. Cool cool cool.

NBCUniversal is building an expensive new studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico, no doubt thanks to tax breaks the state offers for film production. Just don’t pass any crazy-ass abortion bills, New Mexico …

#MeToo

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit against Donald Trump for forcibly kissing a woman on a campaign stop for being politically motivated. OH OK.

Cuba Gooding Jr. has been arrested for groping a woman and has pled not guilty.

Tiffany Haddish canceled a stand-up performance in Atlanta over the Georgia abortion bill.

Bill Cosby tweeted out a message on Father’s Day calling himself “America’s Dad.” NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT.

  1. 1. I totally agree about Cersci’s death and was disappointed they didnt do some cunning plan to protect Kings Landing besides scorpions and human shields.
    2. The Grand Hotel is a remake of a spanish series which my wife binged last summer on Netflix.
    3. Finally watched last weeks bachelorette with the mrs and those were not highland games! Cant say I’m surprised….
