Here’s a fun description: “Hunted follows nine teams of two in a real-life manhunt as they attempt to disappear in today’s digital world, as highly skilled investigators combine state-of-the-art tracking methods with traditional tactics to pursue and catch them. From searching their targets’ homes and scouring their Internet and cell phone histories to identifying behavioral patterns, Hunters in the field and Command Center investigators work together to identify clues to potential hiding places and collaborators that ultimately can lead to capture. A grand prize of $250,000 is awarded to each team that successfully evades being caught for up to 28 days within 100,000 square miles of the southeastern U.S.”
WOW. Wow wow wow. Is no one else alarmed by this? Are we all just cool with this and not concerned where this might be leading? We are? Huh. OK.
Here’s your first glimpse of The CW’s gritty “Archie” series, Riverdale, which they seem to think is Twin Peaks? I am very confused by a lot of this, to be completely honest. It debuts on January 26th.
Here’s the trailer for the Beaches remake on Lifetime that you didn’t ask for. It premieres on January 21st. :
Miss MythBusters? Netflix’s White Rabbit Project will fill the Adam and Jamie-sized holes in your heart. It debuts on December 9th:
Miss Iron Chef on the Food Network? Well, they’re rebooting it. But as far as I’m concerned, if it’s not the original dubbed-over Japanese series, I am not interested, thanks.
Keeping up with the Kardashians has shut down production during Kanye’s hospitalization. Whatever you might think of them, you have to admit that it’s been a rough year for Kim and Kanye.
Apparently, Amazon was working on turning The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai into a TV series, and it was to be directed by Kevin Smith. But then legal shenanigans happened, and Kevin Smith took to facebook and left a long 20-minute message explaining why he’s not going to be involved anymore. And in conclusion, boo.
In other development news:
- Jim Parsons has sold ANOTHER comedy: this time Lance 2.0, about a young couple who are challenged when after an accident he loses all impulse control. CBS is developing it.
- Larry Wilmore is headed back to ABC to develop more sitcoms for them (he helped create black-ish and Insecure for HBO).
- The guy who ran original programming for MTV has left after only 6 months, so that didn’t take long.
- Amazon just bought a couple new kids shows, if you’re interested.
AT&T will begin offering DirecTV Now, a new streaming service that starts at $35 a month, tomorrow. It does not come with CBS, or the NFL Sunday Ticket package. But it will come with a whole new Taylor Swift channel, so that’s something, I suppose.
Y’all really like fancy cars a lot more than alternate Nazi realities apparently.
MATT!
We have Oprah and Tom Hanks to thank for John Travolta’s tremendous Robert Shapiro on People vs. O.J. Simpson.
Donald Trump had a little twitter tantrum at CNN yesterday for doing their job and reporting that his claims of vast election fraud were false. Meanwhile, Mika Brzezinski was just spotted headed up to Trump Tower this morning, presumably to be screamed at by the Petulant-elect. It’s going to be a looooong four years.
