Beyoncé appeared on the CMAs last night to perform her song “Daddy Lessons” with fellow Texans, the Dixie Chicks, and some people were really unhappy about it because they are racist asshats. Here’s the thing: the song is unapologetically country. The performance below is what it sounds like on the album, it has not been countrified for the CMAs. Because, never forget: Beyoncé is from Texas, y’all. And if you listen to it, you come to realize that Lemonade is not just a break-up-and make-up album, it’s actually about Beyoncé loving herself and fully embracing who she is: an African-American, a woman, a mother, a wife, a daughter, a Texan, a Southerner. So while Beyoncé is traditionally regarded as a “R&B” artist, y’all should know that Beyoncé does not have time for your limitations. She transcends your genres.

As for the other big thing on TV last night, y’all know that Parks and Recreation predicted that the Cubs would win this year, right?

- The CW bought Straight Outta Heaven, a hip-hop guardian angel series from John Singleton.
- The CW is also working on Marlowe, a drama about the African-American private investigator who inspired the famous Raymond Chandler character.
- Showtime is turning American Gigolo into a series. Sounds about right.
- Two Mindy Project writers have sold All Stars, a baseball comedy, to NBC.
- NBC is launching Shotgun, a game show where contestants have to answer questions while riding in the passenger seat of a race car.
Netflix renewed Longmire for a sixth and final season.
And Famously Single was renewed by E! for a second Brandi Glanville-filled season.
